  Montali’s gourmet vegetarian cuisine has been widely recognized and praised over the years. By 2005, Malu and Alberto were asked to write a book that captured the aromas, flavours, textures, and the ingredients of Umbria; and of their particular cooking style that combines vegetarianism with Brazilian and Italian gastronomies. A book made it possible to share all this with both the hotel guests and with those not so lucky to have paid a visit to Montali. Released in 2008, The Vegeterranean became an instant success. It received many important awards, such as the UK’s “Best Vegetarian Cookbook of the Year” and the Netherlands’ “Best Vertaalde Kookboek”. It has been translated into 7 different languages and has sold over 80,000 copies around the world. Furthermore, all the fuss created by this first book pushed Malu and Alberto to write a second cookbook. The Easy Vegeterranean, released in April 2014, includes more accessible and easier-to-do recipes.
